Planning is the key to weight loss

Ok I’ve been planning my meals or a while. I plan what I will eat for lunch and make it the night before. I have good healthy food available so I can cook a quick and easy meal. Was this really planning? Yes compared to how I used to eat. Grab whatever was local. Hawaiian barbecue is a favorite. I then moved to frozen food. I’d grab a carefully picked frozen meal out the fridge on my way out the door in the morning. That has now changed to making my lunch. I can see I have evolved. That is what is important for life long changes. I can’t ever see running to Hawaiian Barbeque with 10 minutes to spare for lunch. I see how important it is to make baby steps for me. I now need to move to better planning. I have ended up with too many calories at night. I never thought of planning the day. It would be easy to plan if I exercised in the morning but I don’t. That might change eventually but now it’s not working for me. I now plan what I eat the day the night before. Of course I can’t do this every day and things will change but it has helped me stay on track with eating enough calories. I don’t think I could have done this earlier in this journey . I now really want to exercise. Before it was I will probably do this today .I didn’t want to count the calories early . This is tricky.! Now I really need to exercise.  No big I really want to.

Bmr? I’m puzzled

Ok I get that I need to know my bmr to figure out how many calories I need. Lots of web sites have Bmr calculators. My problem is figuring out my activity level. I know I’m not sedentary but am I active or light active. I’m on my feet daily but sit at my desk at times. I don’t want to add my exercise calories I want to do that separate. On myfittnesspal.com it gives examples of a nurse or mailman. If I was a nurse it would be 1550 or something like that, a mailman 1700 something. I’m a doctor. I think I move more that my nurse because I work in an office. I have patients scheduled all the time. If I was hospital then no I don’t move that much. I get 1800 cals with fat2fitradio bmr calculator. How do I know what is right? Help? I wish I had one if those body buggs or fit bitsthings but I wouldn’t use it all the time. I would just want to borrow one. I could do trial & error. I guess that’s what I’m doing now. I was at lower setting and scale slowed. I then increased calories and weight went down again. Now stuck but I admit I haven’t been eating my calories. It’s all so confusing! Help! What ever happened to eat less exercise more. No one ever tells you about the fine line of eating to little or too much. If anyone has good ideas let me know 😉

Ok the scale isn’t budging again. It did this a few weeks ago then I upped my calories. I lost 3 lbs and now not budging again. I will admit I’ve had a hard time keeping up with my calories. I don’t eat enough or I have a lot left over in the evening. I’ve been told eating in the evening shouldn’t matter but I don’t know. One day I had 50% of my calories left after my afternoon snack. I need to plan my day better. I’ve also decided to see how not focusing on the scale works for me. I took my measurements and pictures. I will compare them with new ones in 2 weeks. I exercise and do weights. I know this can make the scale take a little longer to go down. Initially I was not going to exercise outside of my tai kwon do but I need to get stronger for my tkd. I’m doing Jump kicks this requires more strength. Exercise also keeps me motivated. I can see the changes the weights are making. This blogging thing helps. Writing all this down makes me see the scale isn’t my main goal. I usually would have quit about now. I did this two years ago and quite. It helps to have a goal besides my weight. My black belt is my other goal. I’ll keep you posted on my measurements.
