First Day Of School – A New Beginning

It’s a new beginning for me. My daughter starts school today. We are one of the few schools that start after Labor Day. It signals the end of the summer and for me a chance to get back on track. Summer was hard for me to lose weight.  I did end up losing 8 lbs .  So I’m not complaining. I know what my problems were. I go to too many backyard parties that involve , chips dip and drinking.  I traveled a lot also. You would think I exercised more in the summer but not where I live. I live in the desert. It’s too hot in the summer to exercise as much as I would like to.  Its 90 today and the news is talking about the record cool summer. I don’t even want to go outside, let alone exercise. Now with cooler temperatures I want to start my running program. I’m more focused with my schedule and can’t travel as much with my child in school. We will see if the weight loss increases. If not its ok. As long as I’m losing I’m winning.

Why Is It So Hard To Stay Home Sick!

Ok this us my 4th day home sick. I am improving daily and will probably return on Friday. My husband says I should just stay home the rest of the week. I have adequate sick leave, my job is not bothering me. Why do I have such a hard time staying home?  I guess it’s ingrained  in me from childhood and then reinforced as a doctor. My dad hardly ever missed a day of work. As a doctor we’re taught in training not to take days off. Being an intern is like pledging or boot camp for a year our taught not to miss work. Even if sick. You have to be sicker than your patients to stay home. I was having a really hard time with missing so many days this week until now. My doctor just called and said I have E.Coli. I don’t feel bad about staying home now.  Mainly because this is a serious illness in kids and I don’t want to give to kids.  I admit I will log in to tie up some loose ends I feel it’s easier for me to handle. I haven’t done this all week because I was anticipating going back Friday. I have next week off already which is a blessing. It will give me time to get back to normal. It’s so hard to make me sit still but this has really knocked me down. I’ve seriously been a cough potato not even on my laptop till last night. I wrote earlier post on my phone because I could do it lying down. I feeling better every day so don’t worry;)

Crave healthy foods for weightloss!

I crave new foods! This is exciting to me. I used to crave salt and vinegar chips, brownies, and jalapeño cheese dip. I never considered my self a big junk food eater but now that I look at it I could do pretty bad when I wanted to. I went to the grocery store today and I didn’t even go to the chip aisle. I went to the healthy food section. I wanted to get more flax seeds to add to my almond butter. Muscle Chow Cookbook has a good recipe for doctoring up natural butters such as almond and cashew to make them even better. Almond butter with flax-seed is the new crunchy for me . I eat it with bananas. It’s m y new night-time snack instead of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I now want avacado instead of mayo on my sandwich. At work we have Quiznos or pizza for lunch during meetings. I can turn it down with confidence. I had a sandwich with whole wheat naan, spinach, ground turkey (seasoned with mexican spices) and sun-dried tomatoes. Yum! I feel like the lean cuisine commercial only better because I made it my self. When the girls are drinking 24 oz Jamba Juice for afternoon snack I pull out my Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion and mix with almond milk. I still crave food. It’s just different. WIAW : What I ate Wednesday

  1. WIAW. I saw this on a few post in the food section so I thought it would be cool to share what I eat today. MMm this will be interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever shared a whole day’s menu. It usually just between me and myself and myfitnesspal.com. I don’t do the public display of my food log. That would probably be a good thing. So let’s get started. This menu was planned last night. I try to plan and get my lunch packed the night before. This keeps me from rushing out the door.

Breakfast : egg white omelet with sun dried tomatoes , spinach & feta . Turkey sausage , whole wheat naan & blueberries. Coffee in car , ginger water

Amazing meal shake : 1/2 banana,almond milk, flax seed oil & amazing meal powder

Lunch tuna, avocado,hard boiled eggs, spinach , sundries tomatoes. – vinegarette , ww naan

Ok I didn’t plan on posting this till later. I just took the picture. I’m getting the hang of things. This is a picture if breakfast. I call it my semi-homemade like the lady on food network. I had left over sweet potatoes and I added them to Schwann’s grilled mushrooms and onions, threw in a green chili and spinach and sautéed in olive oil. I server with scrambled egg whites ant it was the bomb:)
